What is a Powder Coating?
A Powder Coating is a paint made from finely ground solid resins. It is usually applied electrostatically and heat cured. Powder is very tough and flexible, it fully cures in a matter of minutes, and is much harder to chip, crack, or peel than most other coatings. Powder can be found on manufactured items, such as:
Appliances and Tools
Store Displays and Fixtures
Patio and Office Furniture
Aluminum Moldings
Railings and Fencing
Playground and Exercise Equipment
Lighting Fixtures
Sporting Goods
Bicycles and Motorcycles
Electronic Devices
In fact, powder makes an attractive finish for almost any metal part. Many powder applicators have ovens to accommodate large pieces, or automated systems for production runs of smaller components.
Why Switch to Powder?
Powder is usually applied in a single coat, which is very efficient and provides excellent protection against corrosion. Powder is not only a durable and attractive finish. It is also easy to use, cost effective, and environmentally friendly. Since it contains no solvents, it is subject to fewer reporting, storage, and disposal requirements than liquid paints. Powder releases negligible emissions when curing. Waste material can be swept up and packaged for conventional disposal. This all means lower costs and less hassle.
